![]() ![]() ![]() The Scatter Rap CountDown is 2 3/4 inches long and weighs a quarter of an ounce. Like its vintage sibling that King employed, the new one is endowed with a weighted balsa body, which allows anglers to fish for suspended largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass at any depth. I truly wish Rapala would make this lure in a larger size, possibly 16 or 18. This year Rapala unveiled the Scatter Rap CountDown. For it's size, it is very light, making it very difficult for me to cast it on my Shimano Caenan. Don't expect to cast a mile like the lures with weight transfers.Ĭomments: This isn't a review, but, it is a complaint about this lure. Just put it in the tackle box on those windy days because it will not cast well. Bypass this purchase and stick to the original floater.Ĭomments: bill broke off within the first couple of outings.Ĭomments: It does have that erratic swimming action to it. I have tried throwing it on different lines, finding no luck. The bill makes it almost impossible to cast in all conditions. Most important, this is the worse casting lure on the market. In order to achieve that evasive swimming action you have to reel at a high speed. Couldn't expect more from Rapala! Pick some upĬomments: This is a great concept, terrible practice. ![]() Slightly weighted, this gravity defying body sinks to your desired depth allowing you to retrieve without rising out of the strike zone. Highly recommend in Purpledescent and silver. Made of balsa, with a custom Scatter Lip, the Scatter Rap CountDown consistently swims with an erratic and evasive sweeping action perfectly mimicking vulnerable baitfish. Sinks at a steady rate (1 foot per second in freshwater) so you can count. Cast and counted down or trolling brings to life the aggressive, evasive, erratic sweeping action that is Scatter Rap. Caught many different species including largemouths walleyes and white bass. The Rapala Scatter Rap Countdown 07 is a 2 3/4 inch, 1/4 ounce balsa wood minnow lure. The Scatter Rap CountDown sinks at a reliable rate, over and over. (Note: recently 2 other lures have suffered the same fate), the wire held at the snap swivel and all three fish were netted. My first Scatter rap pulled in 4 Large lakers before a 26"er tore the Hookwire from the belly of the lure. I use it mainly FLATLINE trolling for springtime Lake trout and Landlocked Salmon (also caught a Lake trout off a down rigger at 90ft on my first attempt). The fish love it! During the past two years since I began using the scatter rap, it has out performed other lures about 8 to 1. Emails to Rapala have gone unanswered.Ĭomments: This Lure is a fish magnet! It is best used as a trolling bait. As long as they stay together, these are walleye killers. At $9 per lure, this can get very expensive. This is open water trolling and the bills just "disappear". It's not like we're abusing this lure on rocks or other structure. It proved to be very effective for catching a wide variety of fish. The original model made a splash with anglers when it first came out. Unfortunately, on four of the five Scatter Raps I bought, the bills broke off after very little use. The scatter rap is a crankbait that first came on the scene in 2013. Perfect size.Ĭomments: I have a love hate relationship with this Hard bait but it beats everything in terms of clearwater fishing everywhere CD7 is the perfect size for every species! My PB small mouth came of the perch color in CD7! I've caught pickerel, smallies, largies, perch, bluegill, etc.Comments: This is our go to lure for fishing walleye in the Columbia River. Can't go wrong with the Silver color, I keep 5 or so on me each trip to the river. Have caught everything from stocker rainbows to a 10 pound brown on it, which is something special for the White River. Comments: CD7 is my personal favorite lure for trout. ![]()
